Fergus Thistles clobber Halton Hills again

FERGUS – The Fergus Thistles held the Halton Hills Bulldogs to two goals after the first period as they ran to an 18-5 victory in Ontario junior C lacrosse league play Tuesday night at the Centre Wellington Sportsplex.

The Thistles, who defeated the Bulldogs 17-6 at Elora Friday night, led 5-3 after the first period and 12-4 after the second.

Nick Aitchison rifled home four goals for the Thistles while Carter Hyndman had a hat trick. Jake Bauman, Trenton Hitchcock and Scott Stovel each had a pair of goals while J.J. Swanston, Sam MacDonald, Brodie Schafer, Jacob Hayne and Adam Lantz rounded out the scoring with a goal apiece. Stovel had six assists while Aitchison and Lantz had four each, Hyndman had three, Swanston, MacDonald, Bauman, Hitchcock, Ryan Biggs and Alec Beaurogard each had two and Schafer and Brock Hoelscher had one apiece.

Michael Holmes, Sean Caruso, Carter Browne, Zac Tarr and Gabe Rowsell each had a goal for Halton Hills. Caruso collected two assists while single assists went to Andrew Atkins, Hayden Chokrev-Evans, Browne and Tarr.

Fergus outshot Halton Hills 65-35 and went 1-for-2 on its power play while Halton Hills was scoreless on two power plays.

Tyson Reeves stopped 30 shots to get the win in net for Fergus while Carter Browne made 47 saves for Halton Hills.

The Thistles are to play the Oakville Buzz at Oakville Friday at 7:30 p.m.
