Fergus Thistles quick out of blocks to drop Halton Hills

FERGUS – The Fergus Thistles struck for five goals in the first nine minutes of the game on their way to a 17-3 thrashing of the Halton Hills Bulldogs in Ontario Junior C Lacrosse League play Friday night at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex.

The Thistles held the Bulldogs to a single goal in each period while they scored seven times in the first and five times in both the second and third periods.

Brock Reinhart had four goals and two assists for the Thistles while Curtis Dietrick gathered three goals and three assists, Keegan Detweiler and Carter Coffey each had three goals and an assist while Jon-James Lavigne had two goals and two assists, Aiden Mcdougall had a goal and an assist and Owen Tovell also scored. Connor Willmets and J.J. Swanston each had three assists while Kaiden Patterson, Ewan Mackie and Cole Doherty each had one.

Gabe Rowsell had two goals and an assist for Halton Hills while Liam Mckendrick had a goal and an assist and Noak Kearney assisted on all three goals.

Shots on net were not recorded. Tyson Reeves was in goal for the Thistles while Liam Noonan was in net for the Bulldogs.

All three goals for Halton Hills came on power plays while the Thistles had two power-play goals and a shorthanded goal.

The Thistles and Orangeville Northmen are tied for the lead in the West Division with identical 6-1-0 records. Halton Hills is sixth at 2-7-0.

The Thistles are to host the Wilmot Wild (5-3-0) Thursday at 8 p.m. at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex and Orangeville Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Elora and District Community Centre.
