Finishing order of top four in senior hoops decided

GUELPH – The top four in the District 10 high school senior boys’ basketball league now know the order in which they’ll finish the regular season.

The Ross Royals will finish first with the Lourdes Crusaders second, Centennial Spartans third and Bishop Macdonell Celtics fourth.

All are to host quarter-final playoff games Tuesday while Ross and Bishop Mac are to finish their regular season Monday with rescheduled games.

Friday, Ross remained unbeaten with a victory over Centennial while Lourdes clinched second with a win over Bishop Mac. Both Lourdes and Centennial have completed their 14-game regular seasons while the other six are to play their final regular-season games Monday.

The Royals improved to 13-0 with the win over the Spartans who finish at 10-4.

Landon Hart had 22 points for Ross while Robert Vosper added 16 and Jonathan Wang netted 15.

Jaylen Phillip had 11 for Centennial and Yinka Ogunnote followed with 10.

 

Lourdes 53 Bishop Macdonell 46

Dom Favaro’s 17 points sparked Lourdes while Simon Porcellato collected 15.

Ben Pigozzo had a game-high 26 for Bishop Mac while Hayden Schut contributed 11.

 

St. James 63 Orangeville 24

Brady Valeriote and Caleb Holman each had 14 points for St. James while Vince T. had seven.

P. Zajac had eight for Orangeville. T. McLaren and B. Drummond each had five.

 

Junior Boys’ Basketball

Centennial leads heading into the final day of the regular season, but Bishop Mac can finish first with a win over fourth-place Ross on Monday.

St. James 60 Orangeville 54

Nick Melehes led St. James with 10 points while Angus Boateng had nine and P.J. Fera had eight.

Jisiah Guthrie netted 14 for Orangeville while Spencer McLaren and Cam Woods each contributed 12.
