Four in logjam atop D4 senior girls basketball

ERIN – It’s early in the District 4 high school senior girls’ basketball league season, but what a tangle atop the league’s standings.

Four of the league’s six teams are tied for first following Wednesday’s games.

The Centre Dufferin Royals, Emmanuel Christian Eagles, Erin Raiders and Westside Thunder all have 2-1 records. Centre Dufferin, Emmanuel Christian and Westside all posted wins Wednesday while Erin lost for the first time this season.


Westside 35 Wellington Heights 25

Jaime Wright and Leah vanderByl connected for 11 points apiece for Westside.

Nicole Rodrigues had 14 for Wellington Heights.


Emmanuel Christian 44 Erin 23

Janelle Vanleeuwen led Emmanuel Christian with 10 points while Hannah Medemblik contributed eight.

Taylor Paquette had 12 for Erin while Sophia Basile netted four.


Centre Dufferin 45 Norwell 17

Brooke Rutledge collected a game-high 22 points for Centre Dufferin.

Darian Rumph had seven for Norwell.



Wellington Heights 30 Westside 24

Sydney Iles and Erin Rooney each gathered eight points for Wellington Heights while C. Noble had six.

Ainsley Nevin hit for eight for Westside and Lexie Delisle followed with seven.


Emmanuel Christian 18 Erin 12

Kaitlyn Niezen’s six points led Emmanuel Christian while Naomi Meerstra and McKayla VanEerde had four apiece.

Maddie Eisner and Emma Dwyer each had four for Erin.
