Four-run innings power Creeks to win over Burlington
BURLINGTON – The Guelph Silvercreeks had a pair of four-run innings as they clouted the Burlington Bulls 14-1 in Central Ontario junior baseball league play Monday night at Nelson Park.
The Creeks grabbed the lead with a single run in the top of the first inning and they never looked back.
The locals received a three-run homer from Chris Procopio in the third and added another run in the fourth. A three-run double by Noah Roberts in the fifth extended Guelph’s lead to 9-1. They added another run in the seventh and wrapped up the game with four more in the eighth, three of the runs coming in on a double by Connor Humphrey.
Mark Caswell picked up the win on the mound for the Creeks.
The Creeks (7-1) are to play the undefeated Kitchener Junior Panthers (7-0) at Kitchener’s Jack Couch Park Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
