Gaels, Crusaders tie one on in senior soccer opener
GUELPH – The Guelph CVI Green Gaels and defending champion Lourdes Crusaders fought to a 1-1 standoff as the District 10 high school senior boys’ soccer league season started Tuesday.
After a scoreless first half, Bereket Ezra opened the scoring for the host Crusaders about 15 minutes into the second half.
Rohin Orvinshi pulled the Gaels even 11 minutes later.
St. James 5 Ross 1
Kean Lam hit for a hat trick for St. James while Yarek Mataiz and Denver Drewery also scored.
Axel Koenig-Pams had the lone goal for Ross.
Orangeville 3 Centennial 2
Andrew Paolucci tallied twice for Orangeville while Brayden Mortson scored the other goal.
Isaac Hayes and Caputo scored for Centennial.
Bishop Macdonell 3 Centre Wellington 1
Joe Raso fired home a pair of goals for Bishop Mac while Tyler Ryan also scored.
Atlas Nguyen had the goal for Centre Wellington.
Junior
Centennial 4 Orangeville 1
Beg had two goals for Centennial while Oscar Kim and Syed also scored.
Sahajbir Dhaliwal had the lone goal for Orangeville.
Guelph CVI 7 Lourdes 1
Kiyan Ladhani led GCVI with a pair of goals while five of his teammates also scored — Liran Ashbel, Hudson Bardwell, Sagsham Chapra, Ethan Hill and Miles Macesic.
Milkyas Teklebrhan connected for the goal for Lourdes.
