Gaels start in a hurry to get their first victory of season

GUELPH — The Guelph CVI Green Gaels scored three times in the first period on their way to a 5-0 victory over the Centennial Spartans in District 4/10 high school boys’ hockey play Tuesday at the West End arena.

The win was the first of the season for the Gaels who scored two of their goals in the first three and a half minutes of the game.

Alec MacIntyre rifled in two of the goals while Jacob Cross, Tryston Pavis and Blake Forester each scored once. Noah Neumann assisted on three of the goals while Owen Shaw, MacIntyre and Pavis each had one assist.

The Gaels killed off six penalties to preserve the victory.

The win leaves the Gaels tied for fourth in the league at 1-2-0-0. The Centre Dufferin Royals, Wellington Heights Wolverines and Orangeville Bears are each at 1-1-0-0.

GCVI is to travel to Shelburne Wednesday for a game against Centre Dufferin.
