Gargoyles dropped by Dingos in season opener

ETOBICOKE – The Grand River Gargoyles opened their AFL Ontario Australian football season with a 78-14 loss to the Toronto Dingos Saturday at Humber College South.

The Dingos surged ahead early and never surrendered the lead. They were up 14-1 at the end of the first quarter, 32-1 at halftime and 56-8 at the end of the third quarter.

Sam Skelhorn and Jeremy Schwartzentruber had a goal apiece for the Gargs.

The Gargs are to host the Hamilton Wildcats Saturday at 12 noon at Margaret Greene Park. Hamilton dropped its season opener 70-23 to the Toronto Rebels.
