Grand River Gargoyles dumped by Toronto Rebels

ETOBICOKE – The Grand River Gargoyles were clobbered 148-10 by the Toronto Rebels in AFL Ontario Australian football play Saturday at the Humber College South field.

Stephen Verzyden led the Rebels with eight goals while Andrew Brown had six and Robert Tersigni had three. Ben Willoughby added a pair of goals while single goals were scored by Marc Roche, Jamie Gault and Sean Sexton.

The scorers for the Gargoyles were not reported.

The Ottawa Swans lead the eight-team league at 5-0-0 while the Rebels are second at 4-1-0. Hamilton Wildcats, Toronto Eagles and Toronto Dingos are each at 3-2-0 while the Gargoyles and High Park Demons are both at 1-4-0 and the Central Blues are at 0-5-0.

The Gargoyles are to host the Toronto Eagles July 6 at 12 noon at Margaret Greene Park.
