Grand River Gargoyles nipped by Toronto Eagles
GUELPH – The Grand River Gargoyles were edged 79-76 by the Toronto Eagles Saturday in AFL Ontario Austrlian football play at Margaret Greene Park.
The Gargs scored 10 goals in the game while the Eagles countered with 12.
Aiden McQuoid led the Gargs with four goals while Sam Wood had two. Getting one goal apiece were Matthew Phillips, Kyle Mundell, Jeremy Schwartzentruber and Michael Kasunic.
Jay Himat had four goals for the Eagles while Maurice O’Neill had three and Aaron Falcioni added two. Following with one apiece were Grant Uranie, Garrett Reynolds and Nick Detmer.
The Gargs are seventh in the eight-team league with a 1-5-0 record while the Eagles are fourth at 4-2-0.
Grand River is to play the eighth-place Central Blues (0-6-0) at Humber College South Saturday at 12 noon.
