Grand River Gargoyles run over Central Blues

GUELPH – The Grand River Gargoyles got off to a quick start and never looked back as they dumped the Central Blues 116-32 in AFL Ontario Australian football league play Saturday at Margaret Greene Park.

The Gargs were up 33-17 at the end of the first quarter and they stretched their lead to 72-13 by halftime. The hosts held a 97-26 advantage by the end of the third quarter.

Jordan Scott collected five goals for the locals while Sam Skellhorn had four. Brian Correia, Kyle Mundell and Jacob Martin added two apiece while single goals were scored by Sam Wood, Zachariah Telfer and Hakeem Hall.

The result leaves the Gargs at 4-6-0 and kept Central Blues winless in 10 league outings.

The Gargs have two games left on their regular-season schedule as they’re to host the Toronto Rebels (8-1-0) Saturday at Margaret Greene Park starting at 12 noon and play the Toronto Eagles (5-4-0) Aug. 24 at 1 p.m. at Humber College South.
