Gryphon basketball men clipped by Carleton

OTTAWA – The Guelph Gryphons faded in the second half as they were handed a 92-66 setback by the Carleton Ravens Friday night in their first game of Carleton’s House-Laughton university men’s basketball tournament at the Ravens Nest.

After trailing 23-12 at the end of the first quarter, the Gryphs closed the gap to 40-36 for the Ravens at half time. Carleton extended that lead to 65-52 at the end of the third quarter.

Malcolm Glanville had 20 points and eight rebounds for the Gryphs while Rasheed Weeks had 11 points and eight rebounds and Aaron Nugent had 10 points. Banky Alade hauled down 10 rebounds and he had two blocks.

Eddie Ekiyor had 21 points and 15 rebounds for Carleton while Munis Tutu had 18 points, Yasiin Joseph had 15 points and Guelph native Mitch Wood had 12 points.

The Gryphs are to play the Concordia Stingers Saturday at 6 p.m. at the tournament and the Victoria Vikes Sunday at 12 p.m.
