Gryphon basketball men drop Memorial Sea-Hawks

GUELPH – The Guelph Gryphons opened the home portion of their OUA men’s basketball preseason schedule with a 101-89 win over the Memorial Sea-Hawks of St. John’s, NL, Saturday.

Guard Malcolm Glanville led the Gryphs with 26 points while fellow guards Aaron Nugent and Jake Chaput and forward Banky Alade each had 13.

Rookie forward Emmanuel Ring had 12 for Memorial.

The win was the second in two preseason matches for the Gryphs.

For Memorial, the game was their third of four in four days. The Sea-Hawks lost 112-72 to the Laurier Golden Hawks Thursday and defeated the Waterloo Warriors 90-84 Friday. They’re to finish their four-pack against OUA teams with a match against the York Lions Sunday.

The Gryphs are to host the UPEI Panthers in a preseason match Wednesday at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre. Game time is 7 p.m.
