Gryphon field hockey women clout McGill

KINGSTON – The Guelph Gryphons scored five times in each half as they clobbered the McGill Martlets 10-0 in OUA women’s field hockey play Sunday on the Queen’s University campus.

It was Guelph’s second win over McGill in as many days as they were victorious 6-0 Saturday.

All five of Guelph’s second-half goals in Sunday’s win came in a stretch of eight minutes.

Katherine MacMillan struck for four goals for the Gryphs while Danielle Crumpton had a hat trick. Rebecca Plouffe added a pair of goals and Bailey Mitchell scored once, the game-winner four minutes into the match.

Olivia Lockbaum was credited with the shutout.

The Gryphs are third in the seven-team league at 4-2-1 while McGill is seventh at 0-8-0.

The Gryphs are to host the Western Mustangs (1-3-1) Wednesday at 8 p.m. at Varsity Field.
