Gryphon field hockey women drop Waterloo

GUELPH – The Guelph Gryphons closed out the home portion of their OUA women’s field hockey league’s regular season with a 6-1 victory over the Waterloo Warriors Wednesday night at Varsity Field.

The Gryphs led 2-0 at halftime before Waterloo scored its goal early in the second half. The Gryphs responded with four consecutive goals to finish the scoring.

Kayla Magarelli and Katherine MacMillan scored twice each for Guelph while single goals were added by Mackenzie Janzen and Rebecca Plouffe.

Kyra Lewis scored for Waterloo.

With one game to go in their regular season, the Gryphs are third at 7-2-2 while Waterloo is fifth at 2-6-1.

The Gryphs are to complete their regular season with a game against the Toronto Varsity Blues (9-1-1) Sunday at 1 p.m. at Toronto.
