Gryphon field hockey women split games at Queen’s
KINGSTON – The Guelph Gryphons split a pair of games Saturday in OUA women’s field hockey play on the Queen’s University campus.
The Gryphs downed the McGill Martlets 6-0 in their opening game and were blanked 2-0 by the York Lions in their second game.
Guelph scored a pair of goals three minutes apart late in the first half in the win over McGill.
Kayla Magarelli recorded a hat trick for Guelph while the other goals were scored by Bailey Mitchell, Katherine MacMillan and Vanessa Schiefer.
Maryam Maamoun picked up the shutout.
Yok scored a goal midway through each half for the win over the Gryphs.
Natalie Maw and Prava Sandhu netted the goals while Alycia Gray had the shutout.
Toronto Varsity Blues lead the seven-team league at 6-0-1 while York is second at 5-0-2 and the Gryphs are third at 3-2-1. McGill is sixth at 0-6-0.
The Gryphs and McGill are to clash again Sunday at 2:15 p.m. at Queen’s.
