Gryphon hockey men extend win streak with single goal

WINDSOR – This time a single goal was good enough for a win for the Guelph Gryphons as they slipped by the Windsor Lancers 1-0 in OUA men’s hockey play Saturday night at the Windsor arena.

Evan Cormier stopped all 28 shots he faced for the shutout for the Gryphs who recorded their third consecutive win.

Matt Kenney scored the game’s only goal 87 seconds into the third period. Assists on the goal went to Nick Boyer and Zach McFadden.

Jonathan Reinhart took the loss in net for Windsor despite making 40 saves.

Neither team scored on its power play although both had seven power plays in the game.

The result leaves the Gryphs (6-7-2-2) and Lancers (7-7-0-0) tied for sixth in the West Division.

Next up for the Gryphs is a match against the Brock Badgers (10-5-0-0) Friday at the Seymour-Hannah Centre in St. Catharines.

That game will be the final league outing for the Gryphs before the break for exams and Christmas.
