Gryphon hockey men fall to Rams to finish preseason

TORONTO – The Guelph Gryphons completed their OUA men’s hockey preseason Thursday night with a 5-3 loss to the Ryerson Rams at the Mattamy Athletics Centre.

Ryerson scored twice in the final nine minutes for the win.

The Gryphs never led in the game. They trailed 3-1, but tied it with two goals in the final 33 seconds of the second period.

Ryerson had led 2-1 at the end of the first period.

Stats for the Gryphons were not available.

Jacob Kamps struck for a pair of goals for Ryerson, including one when the Rams were shorthanded. Adding one goal apiece were Patrick Fellows, Elijah Roberts and Zachary Shankar.

Guelph completes its preseason with a 2-1-0-1 record while Ryerson has three wins and a loss with a game to go.

The Gryphs are to open their regular season next week when they’re to host the Laurier Golden Hawks Thursday at the Gryphon Centre. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
