Gryphon hockey men to start West quarter-final Thursday

GUELPH – The Guelph Gryphons and Windsor Lancers are to start their OUA men’s hockey league West Division quarter-final playoff series Thursday at the Gryphon Centre.

All games in the best-of-seven series carry 7:30 p.m. game times.

Second game of the series is to be played at the Windsor Arena Saturday.

If a third game is needed, it’s to be played at the Gryphon Centre Sunday.

The Gryphs and Lancers met twice during the regular season and the Gryphs scored shutout wins in both.

Guelph won 1-0 at Windsor Nov. 24 with Evan Cormier stopping 29 shots.

The Gryphs won 5-0 at the Gryphon Centre last Saturday with Andrew Masters making 17 saves in the win. Gilbert Oldrieve also played 1:44 in net for the Gryphs that game.

Guelph finished fourth in the division at 13-11-4 while the Lancers were fifth at 13-14-1.
