Gryphon hockey women blank Laurier in preseason

WATERLOO – The Guelph Gryphons skated to a 6-0 victory over the Laurier Golden Hawks in OUA women’s hockey preseason play Thursday night at the Sun Life Financial Arena in the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex.

The Gryphs struck for three goals in the first period and added another one in the second.

Stephanie Gava collected a hat trick for the Gryphs who outshot Laurier 40-19.

The teams were to have played again Friday afternoon at the Gryphon Centre, but that game has been cancelled.

The Gryphs are scheduled to host the Waterloo Warriors Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Gryphon Centre in their final preseason match.

The Gryphs are 2-3-0 in the preseason while Waterloo is 1-1-0.

Guelph is to open its regular season Oct. 18 against Laurier at Waterloo.
