Gryphon hockey women blanked by Toronto in preseason loss
GUELPH – The Guelph Gryphons surrendered a pair of first-period goals as they suffered a 2-0 loss to the Toronto Varsity Blues in OUA women’s hockey preseason play Wednesday night at the Gryphon Centre.
Sophie Grawbarger at 8:04 and Madelyn Walsh at 13:50 connected for the goals for Toronto. Assists were awarded to Juliette Blais-Savoie, Taylor Trussler, Celine Frappier and Avery Durie.

The Gryphs outshot the Varsity Blues 24-18 and both teams were scoreless on three power plays.
Erica Fryer collected the shutout in net for Toronto while the Gryphs used Martina Fedel in goal.
The loss was Guelph’s second consecutive 2-0 defeat as they had lost by that score to the Waterloo Warriors at Waterloo Saturday.
The Gryphs are 1-2-0-0 in the preseason and are to wrap up their preseason schedule with a game against the Ryerson Rams in Toronto Saturday afternoon.
The locals are to begin their regular season with a home-and-home series with the Western Mustangs. They’re to play at the Gryphon Centre next Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. and at London Nov. 6 at 7 p.m.
