Gryphon hockey women come back to top Windsor

GUELPH – The Guelph Gryphons scored twice in each of the second and third periods to drop the Windsor Lancers 4-1 in OUA women’s hockey play Saturday night at the Gryphon Centre.

The lone Windsor goal came in the first period.

Gabby Smyth, Kristen Jay, Hannah Tait and Miranda Lantz scored the goals for the Gryphs while assists went to Nicole MacKinnon, Karli Shell, Gabriele Underwood, Sydney Davison and Cyan Roepcke.

Amy Maitre had an unassisted goal for Windsor.

The Gryphs outshot Windsor 38-26 and neither team recorded a power-play goal, Guelph on five power plays and Windsor on four.

Aurore Beaulieu picked up the win in the Gryphon net with 25 saves while Molly Jenkins had 34 saves for Windsor.

The win leaves the Gryphs at 8-4-1-2.
