Gryphon hockey women edge Windsor in overtime

GUELPH – The Guelph Gryphons struck for the lone goal of the game in overtime to edge the Windsor Lancers 1-0 in OUA women’s hockey league play Friday at the Gryphon Centre.

Brielle Caruso scored at 4:23 of the extra period to give the hosts the win. Assists went to Tori Vanbeek and Jaime Magoffin.

Guelph Gryphons 1 Windsor 0

Alexandrea Davidson stopped 30 shots for the shutout for the Gryphs while Holly Borrett had 35 saves for Windsor.

The Gryphs were scoreless on five power plays while Windsor didn’t score any of its three power plays.

The Gryphs and Lancers are to meet again Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at the Gryphon Centre.
