Gryphon hockey women eke out win in another close one
ST. CATHARINES – Another Guelph Gryphons game in the OUA women’s hockey league means another close contest.
The Gryphs scored in the second period for a 1-0 victory over the Brock Badgers Thursday night at the Seymour-Hannah Centre.

The Gryphs have played seven league games this season and all but one of them has been decided by a single goal – four of them, all at home, in overtime. The other game was a win by a two-goal margin.
Rylee Davison netted the lone goal of Thursday’s game when she scored at 3:46 of the second period. Gabriele Underwood and Vanessa Bueti assisted on the play.
Martina Fedel picked up the shutout in the Guelph net with 28 saves.
Tiffany Hsu had 26 saves for Brock.
Both teams were scoreless on two power plays.
The two teams are tied for top spot in the West Division. The Gryphs are at 2-1-4 while Brock’s at 3-2-2. They’re followed by the Waterloo Warriors (3-0-1), Laurier Golden Hawks (1-3-0), Windsor Lancers (0-1-3) and Western Mustangs (0-2-2).
The Gryphs are to wrap up the 2021 portion of their schedule Saturday with another match against the Badgers. Game time at the Gryphon Centre is 2 p.m.
