It was Guelph’s third consecutive 1-0 win and first since Nov. 27. The Gryphons also had 1-0 wins over the Brock Badgers Nov. 25 and Windsor Nov. 19.

Friday’s game was the ninth of the regular season for the Gryphs and eight of them have been decided by a single goal. The other one was a 2-0 win over the Western Mustangs Nov. 6.

Friday, Lauren Ianni scored a power-play goal at 14:57 of the first period for the game’s only goal. Nicole MacKinnon and Avery Peer had assists on the play.

Martina Fedel recorded the shutout for the Gryphs, her fourth of the season, while Kristen Swiatochik took the loss in the Windsor net. She hasn’t allowed a goal since her Gryphon debut, a 2-0 loss to Toronto Varsity Blues Oct. 27. She has lowered her goals-against average to 0.39 since then.

The Gryphs were outshot 19-17 Friday and went 1-for-4 on their power play while Windsor was scoreless on three power plays.

Guelph and Windsor are to play again Saturday in Windsor starting at 4 p.m.

The Gryphs will then get a break of 11 days before hosting the Brock Badgers at the Gryphon Centre Feb. 23 at 7:30 p.m.
