Gryphon hoops men topple Toronto in preseason at Woodstock

WOODSTOCK – The Guelph Gryphons rebounded from their Friday night loss at home to defeat the Toronto Varsity Blues 81-75 in OUA men’s basketball preseason play Saturday at Woodstock’s St. Mary’s Secondary School.

Malcolm Glanville led Guelph with a 21-point outing while Tommy Yanchus added 16 points. Banky Alade had 14 and Rasheed Weekes netted 10.

The Gryphs are 5-3 in the preseason and are to host the Cape Breton Capers Sunday at 12 p.m. at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre.

Toronto finished its preseason at 2-4 while Cape Breton dropped the York Lions 80-62 Saturday to stand at 1-3 in its preseason.

The Gryphs are to open their regular season Wednesday with an 8 p.m. game at home against the Western Mustangs.
