
Gryphon lacrosse men run to victory over Laurier
GUELPH – The Guelph Gryphons connected for seven goals in the first half on their way to a 12-3 victory over the Laurier Golden Hawks in Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association play Friday night at the Gryphon Soccer Complex.
The win keeps the Gryphs undefeated as they lead the CUFLA West at 6-0. Laurier drops to 2-6.

The Gryphs led 3-0 at the end of the first period and 7-1 at halftime with Laurier getting its goal with 28 seconds to go in the half. The teams scored twice each in the third quarter.
Mitch Ogilvie, Jabe Verbeek and Nicholas Volkov each had two goals for the locals while single goals were added by Liam Aston, Jordan Ackie, Bryce Dennis, Matt Allen, Gavin Thibeault and Cole Wilkinson. Aston collected two assists while Ogilvie, Verbeek, Ackie, Dennis, Ben Doherty, John Wheller and Brendon Hoeschmann each had one.
Liam Foran, Ben Penny-Perreualt and Declan Conlon had a goal apiece for Laurier and Foran had an assist.
The Gryphs outshot Laurier 18-10.
Guelph goalie Cameron MacLeod had seven saves while Andrew Moir of Laurier had six saves.
The Gryphs have the rest of the holiday weekend off, but are to play a pair of games at home next weekend as they’re to host the Toronto Varsity Blues Oct. 15 at 1 p.m. and the Brock Badgers Oct. 16 at 1 p.m.
