Gryphon lacrosse women score runaway victories
KINGSTON – The Guelph Gryphons opened their OUA women’s field lacrosse season with a pair of one-sided victories Saturday.
The Gryphs dropped the UOIT Ridgebacks 14-2 and York Lions 16-0 in matches played on the Queen’s campus.
Goal scorers were not available.
The Guelph squad won three matches during its 2017 season.
Their opening-day wins were over two of the three teams that finished below them in the 2017 standings as UOIT finished last year at 2-11-0 and York was at 0-13-0.
The Gryphs are to play the Toronto Varsity Blues Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Kingston. Toronto didn’t play Saturday and was 8-2-3 last season.
