Gryphon lacrosse women serve up a Sunday split

GUELPH – Two weekends into the OUA women’s field lacrosse season and the Guelph Gryphons have already equalled the total number of wins they had in the entire 2017 regular season.

The Gryphs split a pair of games Sunday at Varsity Field to raise their seasonal total to three wins. Last year Guelph finished seventh in the 10-team league with a 3-9-1 mark.

Sunday’s split leaves the Gryphs third at 3-2-0.

The Gryphs defeated the Brock Badgers 7-5 in their opening game of the day and they were dropped 12-2 by the Laurier Golden Hawks in their other game. Scoring details were not available.

Laurier is at 5-0-0 while Brock is at 1-3-0.

The Gryphs have a pair of games on their schedule Sunday at Laurier as they’re to play the McMaster Marauders (0-2-0) at 10:15 a.m. and the Western Mustangs (2-2-0) at 1:45 p.m.
