Gryphon rugby men clout RMC Paladins

KINGSTON – The Guelph Gryphons remained undefeated in OUA men’s rugby play Saturday as they dropped the RMC Paladins 63-12 at RMC’s Navy Bay field.

The win was the third in as many league outings for the Gryphs.

The Gryphs scored the first three tries of the match on their way to a 35-12 lead at halftime.

Alex Williamson and MacLain Wakefield struck for two tries apiece to lead Guelph. Aria Keshoofy kicked five converts while Mario Van Der Westhuizen added two and Wakefield kicked one.

The Gryphs and Queen’s Gaels are each at 3-0 while the Waterloo Warriors and McMaster Marauders are each 2-1. Laurier Golden Hawks and Western Mustangs follow at 1-1 while RMC and Brock Badgers are both at 1-2 and Toronto Varsity Blues and Trent Excalibur are both at 0-3.

The Gryphs have a pair of tough home matches at Varsity Field coming up. They’re to host Waterloo Friday at 7 p.m. and Queen’s Sept. 28 at 7 p.m.
