Gryphon rugby men top Brock to finish regular season

ST. CATHARINES – The Guelph Gryphons wrapped up their regular season in OUA men’s rugby play Saturday with a 28-22 victory over the Brock Badgers.

Scoring for the Gryphs was unavailable.

Zach Zorbas had two tries for Brock while Nash Ramsay had one and Luke Bagshaw kicked two converts and a penalty goal.

The Gryphs finish second in the standings with a 5-1 record while the Queen’s Gaels finish first at 6-0. The Western Mustangs were third at 5-1 and followed by the Waterloo Warriors at 4-2, Laurier Golden Hawks and Brock at 3-3, McMaster Marauders at 2-4, RMC Paladins and Trent Excalibur at 1-5 and Toronto Varsity Blues at 0-6.

Ties were broken by bonus points awarded for scoring four or more tries in a game and for losses by seven points or less.

The Gryphs and Badgers are to meet again Saturday in the OUA quarter-finals. Game time at the South Field is 1 p.m.
