Gryphon rugby women trounce Western Mustangs

GUELPH – The Guelph Gryphons bounced back from the loss to the Queen’s Gaels last weekend with a whitewash of the Western Mustangs in OUA women’s rugby play Saturday at Varsity Field.

The Gryphs clobbered Western 119-0.

Emmanuela Jada opened the scoring with a try in the opening minute of the match.

Among the scorers for the Gryphs were Talia Hoffman with six tries and Aliesha Lewis with four.

The win puts the Gryphs at 2-1 while the loss drops Western to 0-3. The Mustangs have been shut out in all three of their games.

The Gryphs are to wrap up their regular season Saturday with a game against the Brock Badgers (1-2) at Brock.
