Gryphon soccer men battle Badgers to deadlock

GUELPH – Alex Zis connected on a penalty kick in the final minute to lift the Guelph Gryphons to a 1-1 stalemate with the Brock Badgers in OUA men’s soccer play Friday night at the Gryphon Soccer Complex.

Former Gryphon Jared Agyemang, now in his second season with Brock and fifth in the OUA, scored for the Badgers late in the first half.

Guelph’s Erik Hermanns and Brock’s Alexander May picked up the ties in net for their team.

Guelph outshot Brock 11-3 on shots taken and 10-2 on shots that reached the net. The Gryphs also took six corner kicks and the Badgers took one.

The Gryphs lead the West Division at 2-0-2 and the Western Mustangs (2-1-0) are second. Brock (1-0-2) is third.

The Gryphs are to play the Windsor Lancers (0-1-1) at Windsor next Friday at 8:15 p.m.
