Gryphon soccer men blank Brock for seventh consecutive win

GUELPH – The Guelph Gryphons scored once in each half to keep their winning streak going with a 2-0 victory over the Brock Badgers in OUA men’s soccer league play Saturday at the Gryphon Soccer Complex.

The victory was the seventh in a row for the Gryphs who lead the West Division at 8-1-1.

Youssef Zaghloul scored in the 18th minute and Johnson Amoo added an insurance goal in the 65th minute.

Ryan Collins made five saves for his fourth shutout of the season.

The Badgers outshot the Gryphs 9-8 and Brock took five of the game’s nine corner kicks.

The York Lions are second in the West Division at 6-0-3 while the Waterloo Warriors are third at 6-4-1 and McMaster Marauders are in a three way tie for fourth. McMaster’s at 4-3-3.

The Gryphs and Marauders are to play at Hamilton’s Ron Joyce Stadium Sunday at 3:15 p.m.
