Gryphon soccer men double Concordia
MONTREAL – The Guelph Gryphons wrapped up the preseason part of their schedule Tuesday with a 4-2 victory over the Concordia Stingers.
Mitch Lefebvre hit for a pair of goals while Jace Kotsopoulos and Atchu Siva added single tallies.
The Gryphs finished their preseason with three wins and a tie in four outings.
They’re to open their OUA regular season Friday against the Windsor Lancers. Game time at the Gryphon Soccer Complex is 4 p.m.
The Lancers won both of their preseason matches, defeating the Trent Excalibur 3-2 and the UOIT Ridgebacks 5-0.
Last year, the Gryphs finished third in the West Division at 11-3-2 while the Lancers were sixth at 5-8-3. The Gryphs and Windsor started and finished the regular season against one another last year with Guelph winning 4-3 at Windsor in the opener and the teams battling to a scoreless draw in the closer.
The Gryphs also ousted the Lancers from the playoffs with a 2-0 win in the opening round. However, Guelph was eliminated four days later in the quarter-finals with a 1-0 loss to the McMaster Marauders.
