Gryphon soccer men give Carleton the slip

MONTREAL – The Guelph Gryphons made it two wins in as many OUA men’s soccer league preseason outings Sunday when they edged the Carleton Ravens 2-1.

Veteran forwards Jace Kotsopoulos and Mitch Lefebvre scored Guelph’s goals. This season is Kotsopoulos’s fourth with the Gryphons and it’s Lefebvre’s third.

Carleton’s scorer wasn’t reported.

With 38 goals in 41 games with the Gryphs, Kotsopoulos is second in all-time goal scoring for the Gryphons. Robbie Murphy, who played five seasons starting in 2009, is the all-time leader with 48.

The Gryphons are to continue their preseason stay in Montreal with games Monday afternoon against the Montreal Carabins and Tuesday morning against the Concordia Stingers.

The Gryphs are to begin regular-season play next weekend with 3:15 p.m. games at the Gryphons Soccer Complex against the Windsor Lancers Saturday and Western Mustangs Sunday.
