Gryphon soccer women hit in second half to edge Laurier
WATERLOO – The Guelph Gryphons scored twice in the second half to edge the Laurier Golden Hawks 2-1 in OUA women’s soccer league play Sunday at University Stadium.
Tory Hinchliffe’s goal with about three and a half minutes to play lifted the Gryphs to the victory.
After a scoreless first half, Vanessa Mazur opened the scoring for the Gryphs 15 minutes into the second half.
Jennifer Borean pulled Laurier even with a goal 16 minutes later.
Brooke Davidson was in net for the win for Guelph.
The Gryphs outshot Laurier 13-8 while each team had five of those shots reach the net.
Guelph leads the West Division at 10-1-3 while Laurier is fifth at 5-8-2.
The Gryphs are to play the Western Mustangs (9-0-5) at Western Friday at 6 p.m. and complete their regular season Sunday with a game against the Windsor Lancers (2-6-6) at Windsor Sunday at 1 p.m.
