Gryphon soccer women in scoreless standoff with Laurier

WATERLOO – The Guelph Gryphons battled the Laurier Golden Hawks to a scoreless standoff Wednesday in OUA women’s soccer league play at University Stadium.

The game was a fairly evenly-fought match with Guelph outshooting their hosts 13-11 and both teams recorded five shots on net.

The Gryphs took four corner kicks, all in the second half, while Laurier took two, both in the first half.

Santana Ferreira picked up the shutout in the Guelph net while Stephanie Brooks recorded the blanking in the Laurier net.

The tie keeps Guelph unbeaten at 2-0-1 while Laurier stands at 0-1-1.

The Gryphs are to host the Brock Badgers (0-0-2) Friday at 6 p.m. at the Gryphon Soccer Complex.
