Gryphon soccer women net penalty-kick goal to tie Waterloo
WATERLOO – A goal by Christina Gomes on a penalty kick in the 81st minute lifted the Guelph Gryphons into a 1-1 stalemate with the Waterloo Warriors in OUA women’s soccer play Wednesday at Waterloo’s Warrior Field.
Waterloo had scored the lone goal of the first half.

Jane Macdonald connected for the goal for the hosts, set up by Taite Sinkeldam.
The Gryphs outshot Waterloo 9-7 while the Warriors took nine corner kicks, six more than Guelph.
Brooke Davidson had six saves in the Gryphon net while Morgan Berg had eight for the Warriors.
The Gryphs are second in the West Division at 2-1-2 while Waterloo is sixth at 0-1-2.
The teams are to play again Friday at 6 p.m. at the Gryphon Soccer Complex.
