Gryphon softball women drop opening doubleheader

TORONTO – The Guelph Gryphons dropped both ends of a doubleheader as they opened their Ontario Intercollegiate Women’s Fastpitch Association season Friday night at Dieppe Park.

The Gryphs were swept by the Toronto Varsity Blues who took the opener 8-6 and the nightcap 10-3.

The Gryphs are to play a league doubleheader at the Brampton Fairgrounds Sunday as they’re to play the Ryerson Rams. First game is to start at 11 a.m.

Ryerson split a twinbill with the Waterloo Warriors Friday night at Brampton as the Rams won the first game 6-5 and the Warriors took the second 15-8.

Ryerson is also to play a league doubleheader with the Laurier Golden Hawks at Brampton Saturday starting at 2 p.m.

First home doubleheader for the Gryphs is set for Sept. 13 when they’re to play the Windsor Lancers at the Guelph Lake Sports Fields. First game is to start at 7 p.m.
