Gryphons softball women split weekend doubleheaders
ST. CATHARINES – The Guelph Gryphons split their matches in the second weekend of the Ontario Intercollegiate Women’s Fastpitch Association season by splitting a pair of road doubleheaders.
Sunday, the Gryphs took the second game of a twinbill with the Brock Badgers 5-3. That followed a 9-2 loss in the opening game.
It was the same trend Saturday in Hamilton as the Gryphs edged the McMaster Marauders 2-1 in the nightcap after falling 16-5 in the opening game.
The Gryphs had dropped both doubleheaders to open their season the previous weekend.
Saturday on the University of Guelph campus, the Gryphs were defeated by McMaster. Scores were not reported. The locals were dropped 8-1 and 15-1 by Western at London the following day.
The Gryphs are to have a single doubleheader this weekend as they’re to host the Laurier Golden Hawks Saturday for games scheduled for 2 and 4 p.m.
