Gryphon volleyball men also swept by Brock

ST. CATHARINES – The Guelph Gryphons always seem to have problems with the Brock Badgers in OUA men’s volleyball play.

Saturday at Brock’s Bob Davis Gym, the hosts swept the Gryphs 3-0, winning 25-21, 25-23 and 25-17

The loss leaves the Gryphs at 5-2 while Brock improves to 4-5. The Gryphs are second in the West Division while Brock is fourth.

The Badgers had a kill percentage of .264 in the match while the Gryphs were at .086 while most of the other stats were fairly even as Brock had four aces and Guelph had three and Brock had nine blocks and the Gryphs had 10.

Zarko Ubiparip had 11 kills, an ace and two digs for the Gryphs while Jonathan Pickett had five kills, four digs and two blocks. Jakson Paterson had three kills, two digs and three blocks and Arjun Selhi had two kills, an ace, two digs and two blocks.

Logan House had 12 kills and three digs for Brock while Nanle Yusuf had four kills, three aces, 10 digs and three blocks. Saulius Lianga followed with eight kills, eight digs and a block.

The Gryphs are to battle the East Division-leading Toronto Varsity Blues (6-1) Sunday at the Guelph Gryphons Athletic Centre at 7 p.m.
