Gryphon volleyball men fall to Brock Badgers

ST. CATHARINES – The Guelph Gryphons suffered their fourth loss in as many OUA men’s volleyball league outings this season as they were swept 3-0 by the Brock Badgers Friday night at Brock’s Bob Davis Gymnasium.

The Gryphs had also lost 3-0 to Brock at Brock in their season opener Nov. 6 and 3-1 to McMaster Marauders in their home opener Nov. 12 and 3-1 to Windsor Lancers at Windsor Nov. 20.

Friday, Brock posted 25-23, 25-16, 25-20 wins.

The Gryphs had 23 kills, 25 errors, 22 assists, two aces, 13 blocks and 27 digs while the Badgers had 37 kills, 14 errors, 35 assists, one ace, eight blocks and 24 digs.

Jonathan Pickett had eight kills, an ace, three blocks and seven digs for the Gryphs while Noah Romero-Marshall had six kills and two blocks, Liam Kinahan had four kills and four digs, Gideon Dresser had 11 assists, Jack Richards had 10 assists, an ace and two digs, Joshua Glasbergen had two kills, two blocks and a dig and Ben Kissack had six digs.

Logan House had 12 kills, two blocks and four digs for Brock while Dean Globocki had 10 kills and five digs, Jacob Ferland had six kills and an ace, Grant Reddon had three kills, two blocks and three digs, Mark Naqvi had two kills and three blocks and Ethan Kalef had two assists and eight digs.

McMaster Marauders lead the West Division at 4-0 while Brock is second at 3-2. Windsor Lancers and Western Mustangs are both at 2-2, Waterloo Warriors are at 2-3 and the Gryphs are at 0-4.

The Gryphs and Brock are to play again Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Guelph Gryphons Athletic Centre. That game is to complete the 2021 portion of the Gryphs’ schedule.
