Gryphon volleyball men post third consecutive victory

GUELPH – The Guelph Gryphons ran their winning streak to three matches as they swept the RMC Paladins 3-0 in OUA men’s volleyball play Saturday night at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre.

The Gryphs defeated the Paladins 25-21, 25-10, 25-14.

The hosts had a .329 kill percentage with 39 kills while RMC committed as many errors as they did kills (21). The Gryphs also had 31 digs and 10 blocks while RMC had 22 digs and three blocks.

Jakson Paterson had 10 kills and five blocks for the Gryphs while Oliver Hissink had six kills, an ace, three digs and a block and Matt Baxter had six kills, an assist and a dig.

Dale Towe had nine kills, an ace and six digs for RMC and Travis Verbeek collected five kills, an ace and six digs.

The Gryphs are fourth in the West Division at 6-4 while RMC is sixth in the East Division at 1-10.

Next game for the Gryphs is a 3 p.m. game against the Nipissing Lakers (3-5) Saturday at the GGAC.
