Gryphon volleyball men swept by McMaster, finish fourth
HAMILTON – The Guelph Gryphons were swept by the host McMaster Marauders to finish fourth in the OUA men’s volleyball championship tournament Saturday at McMaster’s Burridge Gymnasium.
The Gryphs were defeated 25-22, 25-20, 25-21 in the bronze-medal match.
The Guelph squad had a .159 kill percentage with 31 kills, 28 assists, no aces, 26 digs and five blocks while McMaster had a .209 kill percentage with 38 kills, 36 assists, five aces, 33 digs and five blocks.
Zarko Ubiparip had nine kills and six digs while Jonathan Pickett had eight kills, four digs and two blocks. Gideon Dresser had 25 assists while Ben Kissack had eight digs and Arjun Selhi had two blocks.
Nathan Delguidice had 10 kills for McMaster while David Dory had 29 assists and eight digs. Sam Cooper had two aces and Wojtek Kraj had two aces and three blocks. Jordan Pereira had 11 digs.
The Gryphs had been OUA silver medalists in 2010 and bronze medalists in 2017.
