Gryphon volleyball men swept in opener, too
ST. CATHARINES – The Guelph Gryphons started their OUA men’s volleyball league’s regular season with a setback as they were swept 3-0 by the Brock Badgers at Brock’s Bob Davis Gymnasium Saturday.
The Badgers prevailed 25-18, 25-17, 25-21.

The Gryphs had six blocks to Brock’s four and the teams each served up three aces, but the remainder of the categories were all won by the Badgers as Brock had 43 kills, 32 assists and 26 digs and the Gryphs had 21 kills, 19 assists and 18 digs.
Jonathan Pickett had nine kills, two aces and four digs for Guelph while Noah Romero-Marshall had four kills and five blocks. Nicholas Gumienik had four kills and two blocks and Arjun Selhi had the other ace. Gideon Dresser had a block, 11 assists and three digs, Jack Richards had eight assists and Ben Kissack had six digs.
Logan House had 20 kills, two blocks and six digs for Brock while Dean Globocki had seven kills, two aces and four digs. Christopher Chapman had an ace, two blocks and an assist while Grant Reddon had 35 assists and four digs and Mark Naqvi had two blocks.
The Gryphs entered regular-season play with three wins and a loss in the preseason.
Next up for the Gryphs is their home opener next Friday against the McMaster Marauders. Game time at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre is 7 p.m.
