Gryphon volleyball men topped by Windsor
WINDSOR – The Guelph Gryphons committed 24 errors as they were handed a 3-1 setback by the Windsor Lancers in OUA men’s volleyball play Saturday at Windsor’s St. Denis Centre.
The teams split the first two games with Windsor taking the opener 25-14 and the Gryphs coming out on top of a marathon game 31-29. The hosts responded with two consecutive wins – 25-18 and 25-16 – to take the match.

The Gryphs recorded 43 kills, 24 errors, 41 assists, three aces, nine blocks and 32 digs in the match. The Lancers, who only used one bench player in the match, had 50 kills, 11 errors, 47 assists, seven aces, 21 blocks and 34 digs.
Jonathan Pickett led the Gryphs with 16 kills, an ace, two blocks and eight digs while Arjun Selhi had nine kills, an ace and three digs. Liam Kinahan had six kills and two blocks and Noah Romero-Marshall had an ace and three assists. Colin Lash had three blocks while Jack Richards had 27 assists, Andrew Song eight assists and Benjamin Kissack 11 digs.
Sean Spencer struck for 14 kills, an ace, five blocks and 13 digs for Windsor while Gustavo Siqueira had 14 kills and an assist, Anthony DeGirolamo had two aces and 41 assists, Luca Nastase had seven kills, two aces and four digs, Dami Alalade had five blocks and Steven Abrams collected five assists and eight digs.
The loss was the third in three league outings for the Gryphs this season while Windsor improved to 2-2 with the win.
The Gryphs are to play the Brock Badgers (2-1) twice next weekend as they’re to play at St. Catharines for the second time this season Friday. Game time is 8 p.m. The Gryphs and Badgers are also to battle next Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre.
