Gryphon volleyball women also to play for bronze
TORONTO – The Guelph Gryphons are to play for bronze in the OUA women’s volleyball Final Four weekend at Toronto’s Goldring Centre Saturday.
The Gryphs are to play in the bronze-medal match following a 3-0 loss to the Brock Badgers in Friday’s semifinals.
Brock won 25-22, 25-16, 25-15.
The Gryphs had a .058 kill percentage with 24 kills, 21 assists, two aces, 48 digs and 10 blocks while Brock had a .168 kill percentage with 26 kills, 24 assists, five aces, 59 digs and eight blocks.
Alexandra Proulx had six kills, an ace and two blocks while Alexandra Curran had 18 assists, 15 digs and 2½ blocks. Jade Ziebarth had an ace and nine digs while Tara Tanasijevic had 13 digs, Cassidy Collins had 2½ blocks and Lisa Wedel had two blocks.
Darby Taylor had seven kills for Brock while Emily Armstrong had 21 assists, two aces, 11 digs and two blocks and Grace Pyatt had two aces and 2½ blocks. Aleiah Torres had 12 digs while Laura Condotta had 11 digs and Morgan Monkman had two blocks.
The Gryphs are to play the Western Mustangs in the bronze-medal match Saturday at 4 p.m. That match is to be followed by the Quigley Cup final between Brock and the Toronto Varsity Blues at 6:30 p.m.
