
Gryphon volleyball women sweep Trent
PETERBOROUGH – The Guelph Gryphons swept the Trent Excalibur 3-0 Saturday for their second victory of the OUA women’s volleyball season.
The Gryphs served up 12 aces to win 25-12, 25-17, 25-20. The Excalibur had two aces.

The Gryphs also had seven blocks to three for Trent and 13 digs to the Excalibur’s 11. Both teams had 22 kills and Trent had 21 assists, one more than Guelph.
Ella Carter had four of the aces for the Gryphs while Ella Mackenzie had three, Samantha Ingleton had two and Sarah McNames and Jaymie Stephenson each had one.
Carter also had three blocks, 14 assists and six digs while Sophie Fernback had eight kills and two blocks. Mackenzie had five kills while Ingleton had four kills and two blocks, McNames had an assist, Mackenzie Proulx had three digs and Stephenson had two digs.
Natalie Fournier had seven kills and four digs for Trent while Elizabeth Turner had three blocks and Isabelle Pellerine had 13 assists. Justine Colombat and Brooke Elliot each had an ace.
The result leaves the Gryphs at 2-3 and Trent at 0-3.
The two teams are to play again at the Trent Athletic Centre Sunday at 1 p.m.
