Gryphon volleyball women sweep winless RMC aside

GUELPH – The Guelph Gryphons posted their third consecutive win as they swept their OUA women’s volleyball match with the RMC Paladins 3-0 Friday night at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre.

It was Guelph’s sixth win of the season while RMC remains winless.

The Gryphs won 25-19, 25-19, 25-16.

The hosts had a .287 kill percentage while RMC operated at .122.

The Gryphs had 40 kills, seven aces, five blocks, 32 assists and 42 digs to 27 kills, five aces, four blocks, 25 assists and 29 digs for the Paladins.

Samantha Ingleton had 13 kills for the Gryphs while Ella MacKenzie had seven kills and a block and Briar Crerar had five kills and 13 digs. Ella Carter had three aces, a block, 21 assists and seven digs while Hailey Holland had two aces and an assist, Alexa Shields had an ace and 10 assists and Leah Stewart had an ace, a block and five digs.

Taryn Bender had 11 kills for RMC while Ashley Raymond had two aces, two blocks and seven digs, Eve Smith had two blocks, Jayda Phillipson had 21 assists and Emilie L’Abbe had seven digs.

The Gryphs are 11th at 6-13 while RMC is 14th at 0-19. Top eight qualify for the playoffs.

The teams are to meet again Saturday at 6 p.m. at the GGAC in the final match of the season for both squads.
